In fifth grade, Angie was given a choice of instruments to play through the Bellevue Public School system.  Her first choice was the drums, followed by the trumpet, and lastly, the violin.  The drums and trumpet had a high student demand and low supply, so Angie was assigned to the violin. Busy with skiing, softball, and reading, she didn’t begin private instruction until well into middle school.

Thousands of practice hours later, she earned her BM in Violin Performance from the University of Oregon in 2009 (summa cum laude).  In Oregon, she served as a substitute violinist in the Eugene Symphony Orchestra and studied violin with Kathryn Lucktenberg & Fritz Gearhart.  Angie continued her studies with Rictor Noren at the Boston Conservatory with a tuition-paid scholarship, receiving her Masters degree in Violin Performance in 2011.   While in Boston, Angie worked with Joseph Silverstein, Pamela Frank, and Jorja Fleezanis, and she was a violinist for the Karl Paulnack’s collaborative piano program.

During her graduate studies, Angie became interested in the science of violin pedagogy and discovered her true passion: teaching. She completed her Master of Music Degree in Violin Performance with an emphasis in string pedagogy in 2011 and moved to Washington State with her husband Andrew the following fall.  Since then, she has built a successful violin studio; her students play in Seattle, Bellevue, and Renton Youth Symphonies; select honors orchestras, all-state orchestras,  and local competitions.

Angie enjoys playing regular recitals in the Seattle area as a performing chamber musician and soloist with the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle. As a professional orchestral violinist, she is principal second violinist of the Tacoma City Ballet, and a section player in the North Corner Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Tacoma. From 2011 to 2019, she was assistant principal second violinist of the Yakima Symphony Orchestra (she retired in 2019).  Angie has performed with many major pop groups including the Eagles, Andrea Bocelli, the Trans Siberian Orchestra, The Who, Ramin Djalwadi (Game of Thrones composer), Amy Grant,  Il Divo, Idina Menzel, Evanesance, Lindsey Stirling, Sarah Brightman, and Michael Buble.  She is also an active studio recording musician for movies and video games.

When she’s not playing, practicing, or teaching, Angie enjoys mountaineering, backcountry skiing, trail running, eating, and spending time with her family (husband and dog).
